Van insurance
Van hire insurance runs until you cancel or there is non-renewal of your premium and the cover provided will end immediately. However, if there is a claim it must be reported urgently to the insurance company’s claims helpline.
The insurance company will cover the insured for the hire charges of a hired van, if an accident occurs in a total loss or where the van remains unrecovered. Those with comprehensive cover will be able to be covered for twenty one days and those with fire and theft cover will be protected by the policy for fourteen days. The insurance company will provide a substitute similar van when your van is not available.
For each incident you will only receive on hire vehicle. Your claim could be declined due to your type of driving licence, convictions, occupation, number of claims or age. The hire vehicle will need to be returned after your total loss payment has been made. The hire companies terms and conditions will apply to the hire vehicle. All claims involving the vehicle being stolen must be reported in a certain time.
The term of hire must commence in as short time. The person taking the hire vehicle must have a full driving licence and be aged between 21 and 78 years old. Sea transit charges are normally excluded. The hire vehicle driver will have to pay his own fuel, fines, fares and excess charges, further insurance premiums or additional hire period extensions. Refrigerated vehicles are not normally available for hire.
