Insurance policies as a general condition have a fourteen day cooling off period, if you cancel within this period you can obtain a full refund of any monies paid but read the terms carefully as the refund caries from company to company. The commencement date of the insurance policy is from the date of the agreement or from the delivery of the policy documents. After the cooling off period, there is no refund given. If a claim has been made any refund will be subject to a charge.
In the case of a complaint, most insurance companies will want to help and avoid most complaints. The insurance company will try to resolve complaints quickly. When making a complaint, quote your policy number in writing if possible. If you are still not happy, you can complain to the financial Ombudsman Service for advice.
For any claims against an insurance company make sure before your buy your insurance that the insurance provide is covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).
